Opening a Top Auto Repair Franchise: Here Is What We Look For

June 27, 2023

Across the country, entrepreneurs are trying to figure out what it takes to open a top auto repair franchise. Many key aspects affect an auto shop’s chances of success, which is perhaps why it is so difficult for one person to handle it all on their own. To start a franchise with strong growth potential, these entrepreneurs must find the right franchisor. Choosing an established brand with great customer loyalty, training and support resources, and a proven business model can immediately put investors on solid ground.

Midas has steadily progressed up the ladder of the automotive services industry throughout our several decades in business. Over time, we’ve noted what is required for an auto repair shop to survive and grow in this competitive industry. This level of experience has helped us become one of the top brands with a franchise opportunity on the market. Midas has even earned recognition as one of the best automotive franchisors thanks to our relatively low franchising costs and widespread brand recognition with consumers. (1)

However, we did not earn this reputation on our own. Each Midas franchisee plays a critical role in our brand’s overall success, incentivizing us to select the best franchisees possible to work with. This blog examines the traits we look for in a Midas candidate and how they often correlate to making top auto repair franchisees.

Passion for the Auto Repair Industry

Those with an interest in auto repair and a desire to pursue a new career path can find an interesting opportunity with our automotive services franchise.

Our customers turn to their nearest Midas location when their vehicle has an issue or requires maintenance that they can’t resolve themselves. They expect us to treat their car well and work hard to provide superior service in a timely manner – and we hold our franchisees to that standard too.

While we prefer someone who takes pride in their work and has a passion for the industry, we don’t require new franchisees to bring decades of experience. At Midas, we know that everyone gets their start somewhere and we are determined to make our franchise opportunity the best possible place for those entering the industry for the first time. Our team has welcomed franchisees of many backgrounds, from life-long mechanics to first-time business owners, and helped them build the automotive shop they’ve dreamed of owning.

Opening an Automotive Shop to Welcome and Support Your Community

Having spent so many years in business, the Midas team knows a brand’s promises only go so far with customers. Local car owners will need to see proof of our quality of service before returning to our locations time and time again. This is why we search for franchisee candidates who can deliver more than vehicle repair expertise. They also need to connect with their nearby communities and foster trusting relationships with their customers.

Customers love it when they can entrust their car maintenance and repairs to a professional who is just as invested in its working condition as they are. In this regard, we expect Midas franchisees to be capable leaders who maintain high standards and require the same of their employees.

Whether this originates from the franchise owners themselves or the management team they put in place, it’s part of the Midas difference that our customers have come to expect. As the franchisor, we provide all the training required to ensure our franchise owners are equipped to deliver on that difference.

Customer Service Goes a Long Way

Other brands struggle to match the level of customer service we look to instill at each Midas location. By working with the right entrepreneurs, we have come to expect the same level of personal interaction and the friendly environment that they usually only associate with a local auto body shop.

Listening to customer concerns, answering their questions, and pointing them in the right direction for the next steps are significant aspects of establishing these relationships. It’s why Midas only seeks the best people possible to represent us at each franchise location.
