What Are Some Traits That Will Prepare You to Succeed in the Automotive Repair Industry?

October 10, 2022

If you’re ready to start a career in the automotive repair industry and are wondering what it takes to do so, we can tell you that the most successful Midas franchisees exhibit certain traits that help them run their businesses smoothly and profitably. Of course, when you join the Midas family, we’ll be there for you with expert ongoing support — but a lot of your success will depend on a few characteristics that we like to see in potential franchisees. Here, we’ll look at a few of them.

You’re Community-Minded

One thing we’re most proud of at Midas is the trust that’s placed in us by all the communities we serve. We’ve been helping drivers take good care of their cars for over six decades, and we haven’t built that track record by accident; our focus on customer service and quality assurance has meant a real difference not just to our clientele but to our franchisees as well. It’s positioned them to become trusted leaders in their business communities and in the automotive repair industry. They look forward to being there for their customers, and if that’s a role you look forward to also, a Midas opportunity might be your next best move.

You’re Friendly

As a Midas franchisee, your customers will be at the heart of everything you do. You’ll work with lots of them every month, answering their questions, listening to concerns, and working hard to become their trusted source for affordable and reliable automotive care. Are you ready to be that resource, that business owner, that person? It’s pretty safe to say that most people who start a Midas franchise enjoy being around people and are proud of the relationships they’ve developed with their customers. You should be, too.

You’re Ready to Learn About the Auto Repair Industry

Depending on your experience, when you become part of the Midas brand family to start your business, you’ll probably be encountering some things for the very first time. Maybe this will be the first time you’ve been your own boss. Perhaps you’ve never owned a franchise before. Maybe you’ve never worked in the auto repair industry. The wonderful thing about new experiences is that they are generally opportunities for growth, either personally, professionally, or both. Many of our franchisees welcome these opportunities and look at obstacles or challenges as a path toward a better understanding of not just our industry but of themselves. When you start a Midas franchise, be prepared to learn new skills, take on new responsibilities, and meet new people. Be prepared to grow!

You’re a Hands-On Business Owner

Some of the most successful Midas franchisees are the ones who are the most involved in all aspects of their auto repair business — from hiring trusted employees to engaging with vendors to marketing their franchise to reach their best customers — all with plenty of our corporate support, of course! Small businesses, whether a franchise or independently owned, don’t run themselves. They need owners who are invested in them, both personally and financially, in order for them to grow. While it’s true that some of our franchisees are less involved because they’ve put trusted management teams in place, most of our franchisees oversee the day-to-day operations of their garages and like it that way. It’s why they went into business for themselves in the first place — to be connected to it and to the community it serves.

The Midas brand is a leader in the automotive service and repair industry and has been for generations. To find out more, reach out today!

(1) This number is an historic financial performance representation reflecting the average of franchisee net income on an annual basis for the 2020 calendar year of the top quartile of all Midas Shop outlets (in terms of total income) that operated for at least 12 consecutive months as of December 31, 2020, and who furnished financial data to us for the year that we believe to be reliable (the “2020 Top Quartile Stores”). The 2020 Top Quartile Stores include 60 outlets, of which 28 (or 47 percent) exceed the average net income of that group. The information was compiled using actual reported sales of our existing U.S. Midas Shop outlets during the year 2020 based on monthly sales reports submitted to us by Midas franchisees for the purpose of computing royalty fees and other financial data of these shops that was submitted to us. We have not independently audited or verified the accuracy of these numbers, and we do not know if these numbers have been verified or audited on behalf of the franchisees. A new franchisee’s results may differ from the represented performance. Click here to see Item 19 of the Midas 2021 FDD for further information.
